Saratoga Springs History Museum Reopens at the Canfield Casino

Apr 7, 2024

The Saratoga Springs History Museum was recently featured on WTEN as it officially reopened following a period of renovations inside the historic Canfield Casino in Congress Park.

Originally built in 1870 as a gambling casino, the Canfield Casino now serves as the home of the city’s history—housing three floors of exhibitions that explore Saratoga Springs’ social, cultural, and architectural past. The reopening marks an important moment for the museum as it prepares to welcome increased visitation ahead of major regional events, including the arrival of the Belmont Stakes.

The WTEN segment highlights the museum’s readiness for a busy season, noting that the reopening comes just weeks before Belmont festivities are expected to bring a surge of visitors to Saratoga Springs. Following renovations, the museum is once again welcoming guests on Saturdays and Sundays through April 28, with expanded hours planned for the summer months.

As one of the city’s most iconic historic landmarks, the Canfield Casino offers visitors an immersive way to connect with Saratoga’s past—from its Gilded Age prominence to its continued role as a cultural hub today. The museum’s reopening ensures that locals and visitors alike can experience that history during one of the city’s most active times of year.

We thank WTEN for covering the museum’s reopening and helping spread the word as we look ahead to a vibrant spring and summer season filled with history, programs, and community engagement.
